Hard-right former television news anchor Kari Lake has defeated attorney Karrin Taylor Robson in the Arizona Republican gubernatorial primary, delivering former President Donald Trump a big win over former Vice President Mike Pence in their escalating endorsement battle.

The AP called the race for Lake at 10:09 p.m. Eastern time Thursday, two days after the election, with an estimated 88% of the vote counted.
Lake held a lead with 46.8% of the vote, followed by Robson at 44%.
Lake faces Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs (D) in the November general election.
